Mission
The core objective of the ICDAA is to create the foundations for a full, fair and well-organized defence in proceedings before the International Criminal Court (ICC) and other international tribunals. We contribute at three levels:
- Court Cases: We support defence lawyers and other professionals through training, research and coaching designed specifically to meet the needs of experienced defence practitioners managing cases before international courts.
- International Law, Judicial Policy & Standards: We contribute to the development of international criminal law, primarily at the ICC by providing defence perspectives on fair trial procedure, defence methods and defence organization.
- Institution Building : We are active in the creation of coalitions that are needed to create the Third Pillar of international criminal justice. This involves bringing together professional associations of defence counsel, bars and educators to create a legal community in the international arena.
